How Much Does Foundation Repair Cost? A Job-by-Job Look

Published Shreveport ranges run from $1,900 to $3,800 for minor crack repair to $2,300 to $23,900 for major repairs. Here is each kind of job on its own — what it is, which published range applies, and how per-unit prices scale.

For the full price guide — every published range, worked examples, and how to read a quote — see foundation repair cost in Shreveport. This post answers a narrower question: “how much does foundation repair cost?” has no single answer, because “foundation repair” covers everything from sealing a crack to supporting half a house. Splitting it by type of job makes the numbers useful. Every figure below is a published range — the Shreveport ones from 2024 cost guides, the national ones labeled as national — and none of them is a quote.

1. Minor crack repair and basic waterproofing

Published Shreveport ranges: $1,900 to $3,800. This is the job when a crack is cosmetic or the movement behind it has stopped: seal it, address the moisture getting in, and move on. The catch is knowing that it really is minor — which is what the evaluation is for. See foundation crack repair for how to tell.

2. Major repair: underpinning and piers

Published Shreveport ranges: $2,300 to $23,900. This is the range for a foundation that has moved and needs support beneath it. The spread is wide because the job is: supporting one settled corner and supporting much of the house are very different amounts of work. The pier count is a large part of that, which is why the next section matters.

3. Piers, one at a time

Published national ranges: steel push piers at $990 to $1,350 per pier, helical piers at $3,500 to $4,400 per pier. These are national figures, not Shreveport prices. Multiplied out:

Pier totals computed from published national per-pier ranges
PiersSteel push piersHelical piers
4 piers$3,960–$5,400$14,000–$17,600
8 piers$7,920–$10,800$28,000–$35,200
12 piers$11,880–$16,200$42,000–$52,800

These are arithmetic, not typical jobs. They show why the type of pier and the count on the quote deserve the most questions. The foundation piering page explains how a count is set.

4. French drains

Published Shreveport ranges: $24 to $37 per linear foot. A French drain collects water underground and carries it away from the house. Because it is priced by the foot, length decides most of the total:

French drain totals computed from the published Shreveport per-foot range
LengthComputed range
40 feet$960–$1,480
60 feet$1,440–$2,220
100 feet$2,400–$3,700

Depth, the route around the house, and where the water is discharged change where in the range a drain lands. More in drainage and crawl space work.

5. Pier-and-beam repair

Published national ranges: $1,500 to $15,000. For a raised house, this range covers the structural work under the floor — resetting or adding piers and replacing damaged wood framing. What is found in the crawl space decides where a house lands.

6. Pier-and-beam leveling

Published national ranges: $1,500 to $10,000. The leveling-only range for a raised house: bringing the floor back toward level once the supports are sound. See house leveling for what that involves.

What none of these ranges include

  • whether the evaluation itself carries a charge — ask before anyone comes out;
  • finish work after the house moves: drywall, doors, trim, brick;
  • moving landscaping, walks, or flooring to reach the work;
  • a plumbing test before or after slab work;
  • permits — ask your specialist who pulls the permit.

Most real jobs combine more than one type — piers plus a drain, or wood replacement plus crawl-space moisture work. That is why the quote should show each as its own line. The foundation repair cost guide covers how to read one and why two honest bids can differ. Whether a policy covers foundation work depends on the policy — ask your carrier.
